Purpose built medical practice established in the 1950's that has undergone extensive renovations to address the changing needs of general practice. At present 9 doctors provide a range of services including anaesthetics, obstetrics and acupuncture. The practice is an accredited teaching practice and currently employs a GP Registrar. Two full-time registered nurses Div 1 are employed each day. There is a full-time Practice Manager and the majority of support staff have been in the employ of the practice for at least 10 years ensuring a wealth of information and support for new doctors.
The practice has been fully computerised for 3 years and retains the services of an IT consultant to keep equipment and software running smoothly and up-to-date. Appointment and billing services have been computerised for 19 years. Minimal bulk billing is offered. The practice has been a private billing practice for many years. The practice is the only practice in town and services the needs of the local hospital, nursing home, retirement village and disability support accommodation. There is a general surgeon in town who provides a range of general surgery both in hours and out of hours. Two of our GP's provide the anaesthetic services.
A range of visiting specialists consult from the Medical Centre and operate at the local hospital. These include gynaecology, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, orthopaedics. Visiting services are also provided by a Psychiatrist and a Physician. There is a new modern 35 bed hospital plus a hostel and nursing home. The hospital has only just been rebuilt and modernised. The hospital also provides a range of community services including dental, dietetic, physiotherapy, podiatry, district nursing, day centre, social worker, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation.
